Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Physics at TIFR Mumbai

About the position

TIFR Mumbai invites applications for Junior Research Fellow positions in the Lightcurve.ai group. The group works on AI for astrophysics in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics. The Principal Investigator is Prof. Shravan M Hanasoge. Appointments may range from a few months to three years, depending on progress reviews. The number of posts is stated only as "a number of" posts.

Eligibility

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physics, Astronomy, Data Science or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfort with Python and scientific data analysis (for example NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib).
• Familiarity with machine learning methods is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Age preferably below 30 years as on the date of the application.

Fellowship / pay

• Rs. 37,000 per month + HRA, as per TIFR rules.
• TIFR retains some flexibility in compensation for exceptional candidates.
• The appointment is temporary and non-pensionable.
