Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Physics (L-ATMIC Project) at IIG Mumbai

About the position

The Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG), Navi Mumbai, invites Junior Research Fellows (JRF) for the L-ATMIC project. The work is in Physics, Atmospheric Science and Space Science. JRFs will analyse multi-instrument datasets on lightning activity over the Indian subcontinent and atmosphere-ionosphere coupling. The post is temporary and in project mode.

Eligibility

• Essential: M.Sc. in Physics / Atmospheric Science / Space Science with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognized University/Institution.
• Desirable: Scientific programming and data analysis using Python/MATLAB/IDL or equivalent. Candidates should be willing to undertake laboratory and field observations.
• Maximum age: 28 years (relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD).
• NET/GATE or other nationally recognized eligibility is not mandatory but decides the stipend.
• Final semester or final year students awaiting results are not eligible.

Fellowship / pay

• Rs. 37,000/- plus HRA as applicable, if accommodation is not provided by the Institute (candidates with NET/GATE or other nationally recognized eligibility).
• Rs. 31,000/- plus HRA as applicable, if accommodation is not provided by the Institute (candidates without NET/GATE or other nationally recognized eligibility).
