About the position

Indian Institute of Management Mumbai invites applications for an Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow (IPDF) at the Ashwin Mittal Centre of Excellence in Advanced AI Solutions for Business Decisions. The Fellow will carry out independent and collaborative research on AI and analytics applications for business decisions, and support teaching, case development and seminars at the Centre. The tenure is one year in the first instance, extendable up to two additional years, subject to satisfactory performance and approval. Number of posts is not stated in the notice.

Eligibility

Candidates must hold a PhD degree or have successfully defended their thesis and be awaiting formal award. Applicants should be fresh PhD holders or PhDs with less than two years of post-doctoral or research experience. Candidates who obtained their PhD from IIM Mumbai are not eligible. Preferably below 38 years of age on the date of application, with age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD categories as per Government of India norms. Desirable: strong quantitative skills in Optimization, Data Analytics, Simulation, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, LLM, Agentic AI, Robotic Process Automation and Advanced/Operational Analytics, and computational skills in Python/Julia for AI, ML and DL.

Fellowship / pay

Fellowship amount: ₹75,000 per month in the first year, and ₹80,000 per month in the second and third year (subject to review). Contingency grant: ₹1,00,000 for the first year (non-lapsable) and ₹50,000 from the second year onwards, for laptop, books, data, software, publication charges or research travel. Accommodation: Institute housing (subject to availability) or HRA as per norms. Conference support: one international conference (typically after 12 months) over the three year tenure, and one national conference per year as per Institute norms, provided related publications are in Q1 Web of Science indexed journals.
