Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF), Electronics and IT at NIT Karnataka Surathkal

About the position

NIT Karnataka Surathkal invites applications for one MeitY-Visvesvaraya Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) for Electronics and IT. The fellowship is under Phase II of the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for AY 2026-27. Seats are available in the CSE, ECE, EEE, IT and MACS departments. The tenure is 12 months, full-time and non-transferable. Research topics and the faculty mentors are listed in Annexure 1 of the notice.

Eligibility

• PhD degree in a relevant topic.
• The applicant must have a PhD from a recognized University with first class (in terms of grades, etc.) in all preceding levels and a good academic record throughout.
• The PhD must have been completed within the past 5 years on the last date of submission of application to the institution.
• The applicant should not have completed the PhD at NITK, the host institution.
• Upper age limit is 40 years on the date of submission of application.
• The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
• Applicants in regular employment will not be considered. Those in temporary positions in academia or research institutions may be considered, but must relinquish their current roles if selected.
• Preference is given to applicants with active industry linkages whose proposal addresses industry specific problems.

Fellowship / pay

• PDF Fellowship @ Rs. 1,08,393/- per month
• PDF Contingency @ Rs. 1 Lakh per year
• Travel support up to Rs. 2.10 Lakhs under limited heads as per the scheme Terms & Conditions, on reimbursement basis
• Duration: 12 months
