PhD Admission, Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme (Electronic System Design and Manufacturing, IT/ITES) at NIT Karnataka Surathkal

About the position

NIT Karnataka, Surathkal invites applications for two PhD seats under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT: Phase II, run by MeitY, Government of India. One seat is Full-Time and one is Part-Time. The research areas are Electronic System Design and Manufacturing, and Information Technology / IT Enabled Services. Seats are allocated at Institute level across the participating departments. The duration is 60 months or completion of the PhD, whichever is earlier.

Eligibility

• As per NITK PhD admission norms and the scheme guidelines.
• Candidates must not avail any other PhD fellowship of the Central or State Government.
• Applications to the regular PhD call are not considered for these seats.

Fellowship / pay

• Fellowship: ₹46,250/month in Years I and II; ₹52,500/month in Years III to V.
• Rent Reimbursement (RoR) as per scheme norms.
• Research contingency grant of ₹1,20,000 per year, released to NITK for the candidate's research, as per scheme norms.
• Working professionals employed at a reputed organisation: one-time incentive of ₹3.00 lakh on successful completion of the PhD and the required formalities with NITK and the PhD Cell, DIC.
