PhD Admission (PhD), Biotechnology at RCB Faridabad

About the position

The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad invites applications for its PhD programme in Biotechnology for the 2026-27 Autumn Semester. There are 9 seats. Selected students do coursework and then research for a doctoral thesis under a faculty mentor. Research areas include structural biology, molecular medicine, infectious disease biology, agricultural biotechnology, systems and synthetic biology, and cancer and cell biology.

Eligibility

• 4-year Bachelor's degree or Master's degree from a recognised institution in any area of science and technology, or an MBBS or equivalent degree.
• 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in the qualifying degree. 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/differently-abled candidates as per Government of India norms.
• Candidates should have qualified in one of the following and hold a valid fellowship offer at the time of the interview: Joint CSIR-UGC test for JRF (CSIR/UGC JRF), DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, or any other nationally competitive fellowship offered by the Government of India.
• Candidature is contingent on holding a valid fellowship tenable for 5 years.
• Reservation of seats as per Government of India guidelines.

Fellowship / pay

• Admitted students avail the fellowship they have qualified for, as per the rules of the funding agency. RCB has no financial liability for it.
• Students pay fees at the start of each semester: Academic Administration Rs. 5000, Laboratory Rs. 6000, Medical Rs. 3000, Student Amenities Rs. 1000, Hostel Rs. 1200.
• Caution money Rs. 5000 (refundable) at admission. Hostel Security Deposit Rs. 5000 (if applicable). PhD thesis examination fee Rs. 10,000 at thesis submission.

3. Pay the application fee of Rs.500/-, if applicable, before the due date. SC/ST/PwD/EWS candidates are exempt.
