Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at IIT Indore

About the position

IIT Indore invites applications for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) post in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science. The post is in the ANRF PMECRG project "Unraveling Thermomigration Effects in High-Entropy Solder Alloys". The Principal Investigator is Dr. Vivek Verma. The tenure is initially one year and may be extended based on performance and project tenure.

Eligibility

Essential qualifications (any one of the following):

• M.Tech / M.E. / M.S. or equivalent in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or Production Engineering. Candidates with these degrees should have previously qualified GATE once.
• B.Tech / B.E. or equivalent in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Engineering or Engineering Physics, with a valid GATE score.
• M.Sc. in Materials Science, Physics or Nanoscience and Technology, with a valid GATE score or equivalent fellowship.

Desirable qualifications:

• Strong foundation in physical metallurgy, thermodynamics and mechanical behaviour.
• Understanding of phase transformations, diffusion, microstructure-property relationships and strengthening mechanisms in metallic systems.
• Experience in materials characterisation and/or mechanical property evaluation.
• Proficiency in scientific computing tools, Thermo-Calc and DICTRA.

Age limit: maximum 28 years. Strong preference will be given to candidates interested in pursuing a PhD at IIT Indore.

Fellowship / pay

• ₹37,000 per month + HRA.
• Institute hostel may be provided subject to availability. Otherwise HRA is applicable.
• The position is temporary and co-terminus with the project.
