About the position

IISc Bengaluru invites applications for Assistant Professor positions across its academic departments and centres. This is a rolling advertisement covering Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Electrical Electronics and Computer Sciences, Mechanical Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Sciences. Applicants can choose up to three departments or centres on the application portal. The notice does not state a fixed number of posts.

Eligibility

PhD, with First Class or equivalent (in terms of grades) in the preceding degree, and a good academic record throughout. A minimum of three years teaching, research or professional experience, excluding experience gained while pursuing the PhD. In exceptional cases, candidates with less experience may also be considered with appropriate changes to salary. Candidates should preferably be below 35 years of age.

Fellowship / pay

Level 12 with basic pay of Rs 1,01,500. After three years of service in Level 12, pay is fixed in Level 13A1 with basic pay of Rs 1,31,400. Total minimum emoluments (including Dearness and Transport Allowances) are Rs 1,73,063 per month with house rent allowance, or Rs 1,45,658 per month if staying on campus. Additional benefits include start-up research grants, Young Investigator awards, Cumulative Professional Development Allowance, campus housing, and relocation reimbursement.
