Project Assistant, Biological Sciences at IISER Thiruvananthapuram

About the position

IISER Thiruvananthapuram invites applications for two Project Assistant posts in Life Sciences. The posts are on contract in an externally funded project titled "Modulation of Gene Expression by Replication-Transcription collisions in Bacteria / Cis-regulatory adaptation by replication-transcription collisions in bacteria". The funding agencies are ANRF and DBT. The tenure is 3 years.

Eligibility

• Minimum qualification (as prescribed by the funding agency): Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences.
• Desirable, Post 01: experience in standard molecular/microbial techniques; experience with analysing bacterial genomic data (WGS, RNAseq, etc.).
• Desirable, Post 02: experience in programming in Python, SQL, R; experience with analysing bacterial genomic data (WGS, RNAseq, ChIP-Seq, etc.); experience with maintaining Linux-based computer servers.
• Age: 50 years (preferably under 35 years).
• The qualifying degree must be from a recognised University or Institution.

Fellowship / pay

Rs. 27,000 + HRA. Initial appointment is for 6 months, with continuance on satisfactory performance. The tenure is 3 years.
