Assistant Professor Grade-I (Pay Level 12), Multiple Departments at SVNIT Surat

About the position

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat invites applications for Assistant Professor Grade-I (Pay Level 12). The posts are in several engineering, science and humanities departments. Vacancies are listed as UR-08, OBC-03, SC-01 and ST-05. Reservation for PwD at 4% applies as per Government of India norms. The number of posts may vary at the time of final selection.

Eligibility

• All new entrants shall have Ph.D. in the relevant discipline and shall have first class in the preceding degrees (Bachelor's Degree onwards).
• Essential educational qualifications, experience, credit points and other terms and conditions are as per Schedule 'E' of the NIT Statute, published in the Gazette of India on 24 July 2017 (Annexure-I).
• Minimum qualifications and desirable areas of specialization for each department are given in Annexure-II. The Institute may consider any area of specialization.
• If first class is not mentioned on the certificates, the candidate should have passed with at least 6.5 CGPA (10-point scale) or 60% marks in aggregate.
• All degrees must be from an institute or university recognised by UGC/AICTE/AIU/GOI.
• Degrees from abroad are considered if offered by the national university or institution of that country, or by institutions in the QS/THE World Ranking up to 500.
• Fresh appointment beyond the age of 60 years is discouraged except for candidates with exceptional research and ongoing or approved externally funded research projects.
• Candidates who obtained their Ph.D. from SVNIT Surat need a gap of three years between the Ph.D. notification date and the last date of online application. This does not apply to existing SVNIT faculty.

Fellowship / pay

Pay Level 12 of Pay Matrix, i.e. ₹101,500/-pm to ₹167,400/-pm along with admissible allowances.

2. Download the filled application form and the credit point summary sheet.
3. Sign the form and attach self-attested supporting documents: testimonials, certificates, age proof, educational and experience certificates, proof of fee payment.
4. Send the hard copy to the Deputy Registrar (Establishment), Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Ichchhanath, Dumas Road, Surat 395 007, Gujarat. It must reach by 5.00 p.m. on 7 Dec 2026.
5. Apply separately, with all enclosures and fee, for each additional post, pay level or department.
