Research Associate (RA), Physics at IACS Kolkata

About the position

IACS Kolkata invites applications for one Research Associate-I (RA-I) post in Physics. The post is in the School of Physical Sciences. The research area is Particle Physics Phenomenology and Astro-particle Physics. The tenure is 2 years from the date of joining, subject to evaluation after one year.

Eligibility

• First or high second-class M.Sc. degree in Physics, with a minimum average of 55% marks in both B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. examinations, along with a good overall academic record.
• Ph.D. obtained, or thesis due for submission within three months, with research experience supported by publications in peer-reviewed journals in Particle Physics Phenomenology and Astro-particle Physics.
• A candidate expected to submit the Ph.D. thesis within three months from the application deadline may also apply. A separate declaration letter from the supervisor stating the three-month limit must be submitted with the application.

Fellowship / pay

• Rs. 58,000/- (for RA-I) + HRA as per rules of the Association.
• A selected candidate holding a Ph.D. at the time of joining receives the RA-I fellowship from the date of joining.
• A selected candidate yet to receive the Ph.D. may join only after submitting the thesis, with documentary proof. Such a candidate draws a bridge fellowship as per IACS rules. The full RA-I fellowship is paid from the award date of the doctoral degree, with documentary proof.
• The position is purely temporary. No TA is admissible for attending the interview.
