About the position

IIT Delhi invites applications for the International Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow (I-IPDF) scheme, open to foreign nationals across its academic departments, centres and schools. The scheme aims to strengthen the Institute's research ecosystem, promote interdisciplinary research and groom potential faculty members. Positions are open in departments including Applied Mechanics, Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Design, Electrical Engineering, Energy Science and Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management Studies, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics and Textile and Fibre Engineering, as well as centres and schools such as CARE, Centre for Atmospheric Sciences, CART, Centre for Biomedical Engineering, TRIPP-C, Centre for Sensors Instrumentation and Cyber-physical System Engineering, Optics and Photonics Centre, School of Public Policy, Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence, Kusuma School of Biological Sciences and CRDT. The initial appointment is for one year on contract, extendable by one more year on the same terms based on a formal performance assessment. The number of posts is not specified in the notice.

Eligibility

Foreign nationals who have obtained their PhD degree from an institution or university other than IIT Delhi. Maximum age 32 years for male candidates and 35 years for female candidates. PhD with first class or equivalent grade in the preceding degree with a consistently good academic record. Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis but not yet defended it may be considered subject to a certificate from the guide, duly forwarded by the Head of the Department, submitted at the time of interview; such candidates must complete their defense before the first assessment at the end of the first year, failing which the contract is terminated. Candidates should have demonstrated research capability through publications in reputed journals and conferences. I-IPDF positions are targeted at foreign candidates who are not IIT Delhi PhD degree holders.

Fellowship / pay

Fellowship of Rs. 80,000 per month (Rs. 65,000 for candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis but not defended) plus House Rent Allowance at the Govt. of India rate for New Delhi. No Institute accommodation will be provided. Professional Development Allowance (PDA) of Rs. 1.00 lakh per financial year (April to March), apportioned at Rs. 25,000 per quarter from the date of joining; unutilized PDA can be carried forward. Medical facility (IITD hospital OPD services) provided on payment basis as per prevailing Institute norms.
