IIT Delhi invites applications for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) under advertisement no. IITD/2023/PDF-2. PDFs are attached to a research group rather than to an individual faculty member, and are expected to publish, present at conferences, assist in teaching, and help supervise PhD and postgraduate students. Eligibility

Indian Nationals of General, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PWD and EWS categories, including candidates with physical disability, may apply. Maximum age is 32 years for male candidates and 35 years for female candidates, with age relaxation for reserved categories as per Government of India guidelines (SC/ST: 5 years, OBC-NCL: 3 years, EWS: no relaxation, General PwD: 10 years); exceptions for exceptional candidates are recorded in writing. Candidates must hold a PhD with first class or equivalent grade in the preceding degree and a consistently good academic record. Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis but not yet defended it may be considered, subject to a certificate from the guide, forwarded by the Head of Department, to be submitted at the time of interview; in such cases the defense must be completed before the first assessment at the end of the first year, failing which the contract is terminated. PDF posts are primarily for external candidates; IIT Delhi PhD holders may be considered only 3 years after obtaining their degree from IIT Delhi. Candidates should have demonstrated research capability through publications in reputed journals and conferences.

Fellowship / pay

Fellowship of Rs. 75,000 per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) at the Government of India rate applicable to New Delhi. No Institute accommodation is provided. A Professional Development Allowance (PDA) of Rs. 1.00 lakh per financial year (April to March) is available from the date of joining, proportionate for shorter tenures, with unutilised PDA carried forward; PDA may be used only for attending national and international conferences. Initial tenure is one year on contract, extendable by one more year on the same terms based on performance, with further extension beyond two years possible for outstanding candidates as decided by the evaluation committee.
