Assistant Professor Grade I, Data Science at IIT Palakkad

About the position

IIT Palakkad invites online applications for the post of Assistant Professor Grade I in the discipline of Data Science. The recruitment is a rolling exercise, meaning applications are reviewed periodically rather than against a single interview date. This grade is meant for candidates with more post PhD experience than Grade II. No fixed number of posts is stated; recruitment depends on departmental requirement.

Eligibility

Ph.D. in the relevant area of research, with first class or equivalent at the preceding (penultimate) degree, with a consistently good academic record throughout. Candidates with at least three years (post Ph.D.) industrial, research or teaching experience will be considered for Grade I (Level 12). Age for Assistant Professor should preferably be less than 35 and not exceeding 40 years as on 31 Dec 2026 for unreserved category candidates, with age relaxation as per Government of India norms for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD and women candidates.

Fellowship / pay

Level 12 (Rs. 1,01,500 to Rs. 1,67,400) as per 7th Central Pay Commission, plus allowances admissible to Central Government employees at Palakkad. Initiation/start-up grant up to Rs. 10 lakh (up to Rs. 25 lakh on selection basis), CPDA of Rs. 3 lakh per 3 year block, and relocation allowance as per norms.
