Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at IIT Roorkee

About the position

IIT Roorkee invites applications for one Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department. The project is "Multiscale modelling of selective laser melting", sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The Principal Investigator is Arka Lahiri. The duration is five years. The job is to develop computational software to simulate microstructure evolution during selective laser melting.

Eligibility

• Indian nationals only.
• Candidates should be eligible for a PhD position in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department, as per the IIT Roorkee PhD brochure (Spring 2026).
• Candidates must ensure they are eligible before appearing for the interview.
• Preference will be given to SC/ST candidates on equal qualifications and experience.
• The selected candidate may get an opportunity for PhD admission.

Fellowship / pay

• Rs. 37000/- pm for the first 2 years.
• Can be upgraded to SRF position, Rs. 42000/- pm after 2 years.
• No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview.
