About the position

IISER Pune invites online applications for Assistant Professor (Grade-I), an Unreserved category, tenure track faculty position. The posts are spread across the Department of Data Science, the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences and the Department of Science Education. This is a rolling advertisement, so applications are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed periodically. The initial appointment is for 5 years from the date of joining, subject to performance review for continuation.

Eligibility

Ph.D. in the relevant area in Humanities and Social Sciences / Science Education / Data Science with first class at the preceding degree and at least 3 years post-Ph.D. industrial, research or teaching experience.

Priority areas: Department of Data Science (machine and reinforcement learning, statistical learning, randomized algorithms, probabilistic models and statistical inference, natural language processing, deep learning, interpretable machine learning, algorithms and theoretical foundations of data sciences, network science, computer science, data structures, numerical analysis, signal processing and information theory); Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (intellectual history, history of science, anthropology and sociology); Department of Science Education (pedagogy of science, philosophy of education, education practices in science). Outstanding applications in other relevant areas may also be considered.

Fellowship / pay

Academic Pay Level-12 (entry pay Rs. 1,01,500/-). Gross monthly emoluments at the base of the scale are approximately Rs. 1,77,400/-, with Dearness, House Rent, Transport and Children's Education allowances as admissible to Central Government employees posted in Pune. Covered under the New Pension Scheme.
